Drawing inspiration from his many days and nights spent on the California coastline and in particular the Monterey Peninsula, Curt Bender is a California based abstract artist. A portion of each of his paintings, be it a small part or the entire piece can be correlated to coastal fog, sand and sea.
Working in the corporate technology space for most of his professional career, Curt is progressing towards a passion for creating and sharing paint on canvas. "The awareness of being in the moment, out of the measurement of time and feeling the painting happening is very exhilarating experience".
There is a bloodline of creative talent and artists in his family.
At a young age, there were lots of family weekends spent in the galleries of the artist community of Laguna Beach California. This influence, not realized at the time is now realized in his works.He has continued this childhood tradition with his three sons spending time in the galleries of Carmel California.
Curt's "ah ha" moment as it were was a local Art Hop and walking into a friends studio. Seeing and feeling the power and possibility of his paintings prompted Curt to start as his friend says "Pushing Paint".
A self-taught and a perpetually learning artist, Curt's focus is to incorporating intriguing layers and textures to his work.
Curt lives and creates in Central California and Carmel California.
